The IT sector continues to boom in this techno dominated world. Since it is a technologically advanced country, more IT professionals are needed in Japan. Recent studies show that around 790,000 IT workers will be needed for the country of Japan until the year 2030.

Nepali IT/Computer engineers will need to obtain employment eligibility – that is, a work visa –
to reside in and be gainfully employed in Japan. A common work visa is the “Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services” visa, primarily for technicians and white-collar workers. However, this does not involve simple or unskilled labor. This visa was previously divided into two categories, namely, ‘Engineer’ and ‘Specialist in Humanities/International Services’, but since April 2015, it has been under one category. General working details
• Location: Mainly Tokyo, Japan
• 9:00 AM to 18:00 PM is considered a working day, and one hour is given for lunch.
• Saturday, Sunday, and extra national holidays
• 123–130 holidays in a year
• Allowance: Depending on the organization
• Overtime work is given separately according to labor laws in Japan
• Welfare: Depending on the hiring company
• Government-run social insurance, internal or external training, study and research,
assistance, etc.
• Pay: At least as much as a Japanese national-usually 200,000 yen per month
• Pay Increase: Pay increases when a person is promoted
• Bonus: a computer equivalent to four months-graduates1

Duration of stay in Japan on a work visa
